Our Mission
The lone writer is often a lonely writer. The writer with a supportive community and experienced, encouraging mentors is usually a happier and more productive writer. Our mission is to foster the fellowship of writers, and bring more great writing into the world.
Steel Quill Workshop in Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh is launching April 2025! We will offer MFA-quality workshops at a community-college cost for both aspiring and accomplished writers. (Please note, neither college credits nor degree are required to participate, and neither are they being offered.)
Courses will include: short-story writing, novel writing, playwriting, screenwriting, long-form journalism, creative non-fiction, screenwriting, poetry writing and more at Amazing Books & Records at 5858 Forbes Avenue in Squirrel Hill. There will be separate classes held for teenagers!
Workshops will be lead by accomplished local professional writers and teachers, and enrolled writers will get encouragement, coaching, and extensive, helpful feedback from their fellow students and from their teachers.
