You've got something to say which must be heard.
You are a writer. Maybe you’ve dabbled in writing short stories and poems, begun or even completed a novel or a screenplay or two, or have dreamed about writing your memoir, but haven’t quite gotten your writing moving or to a place you feel happy with?
Maybe you’ve yearned for skilled professional mentorship, encouragement, and a community of fellow writers with whom you can share and cultivate your writing, getting and giving astute feedback and support?
You are a writer. We're here to help you make your words and stories manifest, and make them count. You will be heard.
We’re launching Steel Quill Writers' Workshop, a workshop for writers like you, inside of Squirrel Hill's own Amazing Books & Records in July 2025. Our mission at Steel Quill is to foster the fellowship of writers and the creation of more great writing in the world.
Our Pittsburgh writing courses will be led by accomplished Pittsburgh-based professional writers and teachers, providing enrolled writers with encouragement, coaching, and extensive, helpful feedback. Workshops will include novel writing, poetry writing, short-story writing, play-writing, screenwriting, journalism, creative non-fiction and more, and we'll have classes for teenagers as well.
We’re launching with one class in July, Mastering the Mystery, taught by USA Today Bestselling Novelist Annette Dashofy. We will be adding two more classes in August, an introduction to playwriting and an intro to screenwriting taught by Point Park University professor Robin Goldberg, and we will be adding more writing classes as we sign up more teachers
Be sure to register for workshops below, classes are limited to 12 students.
